IP CCTV & AV Solutions
University of Northampton
The newly opened Nursing Midwifery Council (NMC) Competency Test Centre based at UoN Park Campus is the only one of its kind in the UK and provides part 2 of the OSCE test to assess Midwives who trained outside of Europe. The test makes sure that those joining the NMC’s register are meeting the UK’s standards in terms of theoretical and clinical knowledge.
After successfully winning the tender to provide the new facility, UoN tasked Adaptive IT to implement the IT and AV strategy of the project which included a method for recording the footage of the clinical test themselves and the management of the recordings taken.
In the event of a challenge from a failed student, or if a second opinion on performance was required, the archived footage could be reviewed and used as the basis for evidence to confirm a decision of suitability to work in the UK.
Adaptive IT's Solution
We installed all of the structured cabling infrastructure to a dedicated central data cabinet position and supplied LED TV’s at numerous presentation positions for any profile of user. A strategically placed Full HD IP camera with boundary mic installed at height at each of the Assessment Bay areas served as the solution to capture the audio/video of the testing procedure.
The examiner was able to begin and end the recording of the session via laptop software interface and the storage of the files was automated to be sent to an archiving location for secure storage.
When the project was initiated, we had a tight turn around for completion. We worked with Adaptive within a short time frame to determine functionality and capability of the Test Centre. Adaptive delivered on all areas and ensured strong communication links at each stage of the project. The monthly visits, that are part of the contract, allow continued support to the Test Centre.Lucie Armstrong-Kurn
