The Gateway School is an outstanding performing school based in Northamptonshire which has 63 places for 11-18 year olds with behavioural, emotional and social difficulties who have not been able to settle happily into mainstream provision.
Their patron is Frank Bruno MBE and they have a wealth of impressive facilities available to students.
The requirement was for a new digital visitor management system to be based in the main reception area of the school.
Adaptive IT's Solution
After an initial consultation with key stakeholders and a live demonstration of the system, we proposed the InVentry Visitor Management solution be deployed at the site. InVentry is the current market leader in Visitor Management, is optimised specifically for a school environment and is already installed in thousands of schools across the UK. This system meant that all of the existing signing in problems would be alleviated in one stroke and improvements in speed and accuracy of processes could be seen immediately by users.
The solution consisted of the main InVentry signing in touchscreen in reception on a swing arm so it can be safely stowed away in the office when the area was closed – the thermal printer was sited in reception so office staff could make sure all credentials were presented correctly to the wearer.
During schools hours Visitors, Peripatetic staff and contractors can sign in and out using this interface as well as late arriving and early leaving pupils.
Staff are able to sign in at a separate entrance using the Quickscan interface and special barcoded permanent credentials. This allowed easy sign in and out for school staff and their journeys into and out of the building were able to be logged to create a 100% accurate staff Fire Register in the case of an emergency.
The system is covered by a 3yr NBD Hardware warranty and a dedicated helpdesk support contract. Contact can be made via telephone or email and any questions or queries are fielded in real time by knowledgeable staff. Any changes and system modifications can also be made via secure remote connection to the screen by the same resource.
This is another great example of the InVentry system being agile enough to be configured to work in a manner that fits the requirements of the school exactly as they need it. Safeguarding and Health & Safety have definitely been enhanced further by the school adopting this technology.Ross Alexander
