Video Conferencing

The Brief

A very busy facility based at a UK Hospital needed to be able to liaise remotely with another NHS Hospital site also based in the UK. Both sites needed to be able to see and share information such as patient details, x-rays as face-to-face video communication.

Due to the importance of the clarity of images as they could be used to help with a diagnosis, quality was of paramount consideration.

Ease of communication between both sites and quality of audio was also of great importance so the system had to be easy to use – even for staff with low levels of IT literacy.

Adaptive IT's Solution

2x wall mounted 55″ NEC Healthcare optimised LED Screens were positioned side by side as the two display endpoints. This created a great sized display area and input feeds from any source could be shown on either or both screens. The screens were 4K Full UHD LED which gave enhanced image and picture quality. Both units were also optimised for display of DICOM compatible medical images such as X-Rays.

The conferencing solutions platform we supplied was the Lifesize 600 system. The choice of the system was based on the following requirements – quality, ease of use & potential for future proofing. The Lifesize 600 is incredibly easy for an end user to use after a minimal amount of training; the Full HD quality for static and video images ranks as the best available and the ability to pair the system with a Cloud based service delivery partner ensures a long lifespan for the hardware.

We were under time pressure to create and deliver a suitable solution that hit all of the requirements in terms of functionality & quality. It was great to return and see that the system was a great success once it had gone live and had been instrumental in helping save lives which is the best feedback we could have wished for.
