CLB Acoustic Monitoring
Harbour Healthcare is a family run business with considerable experience and expertise in the care industry.
Their philosophy is simple – they strive to provide an excellent standard of care to their residents and treat them with complete dignity and respect.
Adaptive IT were tasked with installing the CLB Acoustic Monitoring system into their fully operational 49 bed Belle Vue site in Paignton, Devon.
Provision needed to be made for all 49 resident bedrooms – dementia sufferers and residents who were especially frail needed to be able to call for assistance without using traditional Nurse Call methods.
All of our works were to be done whilst the site remained fully operational with residents, visitors and staff remaining alongside all of our installation. This meant close liaising with management had to be undertaken to ensure disturbance was kept to a minimum.
Adaptive IT's Solution
A single CLB Acoustic Monitoring Module was installed into each resident bedroom – this monitors sounds in a room and when a concerning noise is heard an alert is sent to a central station.
The solution helps raise levels of care and resident wellbeing – here are some operational examples,
– Preventing Falls as residents are reached before bed exit
– Allowing better sleep cycles as interventions in rooms are only when necessary
– Abuse is prevented as aggression is detected
– Privacy and Dignity are protected with less in room interactions

This is the first project we have undertaken with Harbour and we have been very impressed by what we have seen so far. In terms of installation we had the opportunity to show how we can manage working in a live environment and install into occupied resident bedrooms with a minimum of fuss or disruption. As the home is populated the residents and staff will be able to enjoy the benefits of the system from day one.Jonathan White
